Assistant Manager – The Muse Coffee Company

Position Summary

The Muse Coffee Company is seeking a passionate, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Manager to support daily operations and help lead our team in delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role works closely with the Store Manager to ensure operational excellence, maintain quality standards, develop team members, and foster a positive workplace culture. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, team-oriented leader, and thrives in a fast-paced café environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Support the Store Manager in leading with enthusiasm, passion, respect, integrity, determination, and excellence, setting a positive example for the entire team.

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.

  • Provide coaching, support, and feedback to team members to encourage growth and accountability.

  • Help foster a positive, collaborative, and guest-focused culture.

Operations Management

  • Assist in overseeing daily café operations during scheduled shifts.

  • Make real-time operational decisions to ensure efficient service and a positive guest experience.

  • Collaborate with the Store Manager and management team on all aspects of store operations.

Guest Experience

  • Ensure every guest receives exceptional hospitality and service.

  • Address guest concerns professionally and promptly.

  • Lead by example in creating a welcoming and hospitable environment.

Food & Beverage Quality

  • Ensure all food and beverage items are prepared, handled, and served according to company standards.

  • Maintain recipe consistency, portion control, presentation, and quality expectations.

  • Uphold food safety and sanitation standards at all times.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate daily records and operational reports as assigned.

  • Assist with tracking sales, transactions, labor, scheduling, and other store performance metrics.

  • Support scheduling efforts and labor management as directed.

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in a coffee shop, café, restaurant, hospitality, or retail environment preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Flexible schedule, including availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Passion for hospitality, coffee, food service, and team development.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, and perform repetitive movements throughout a shift.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: Based on experience

Location: The Muse Coffee Company-Garner, NC 
Compensation: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
